9:30 am to 2:30 pm
A 5 hour day time excursion with swimming, snorkeling, shelling, & exploring on isolated Egmont Key.
Egmont divides the Bay and the Gulf and is home to the nations first preserve for birds. Uninhabited but for some park rangers quarters and bunk houses for the ship pilots, the southern end is off limits to people as it is the bird sanctuary. After an approximate hour and a half sail from Anna Maria Island out to the key you’ll have close to 2 hours where you are welcome to go ashore on the north end and see the lighthouse, visit the tortoises, explore the ruins of old Fort Dade on land or snorkel around the ruins out in the water on the south end, and swim and shell along the pristine beach! Please keep in mind there is no dock or pier. The boat will anchor as close to the beach as wind, waves, and sea conditions allow, but you will need to go into the water to reach the shore.
You are welcome to bring a cooler with drinks, snacks, and a packed lunch if you like.
Flip Flops will provide snorkeling equipment and bottled water
